The oil from a K&N will mess up the AFM. The AFM (air flow meter) reads how much air is going into the engine. The oil gets on the sensor and gives a wrong reading, and you can not clean the sensor because that will mess it up too. Some people have problems with this and others don't.

"ao ia it worth it" (as in the apexi- no oil) IMO yes.

I am partial to K&N because that is all I have ever used. But if apexi made a filter in my size then I would use one of theirs instead.

A paper filter will flow all the air you'll ever need (although your intake may not) and will filter better than anything out there. I had an K&N on my car and took it off after seeing the damage it was doing. You couldn't pay me to run anything but paper but if you're going to run an oiled filter don't clean it for a long time and keep the oil to a minimum.

I read that the Apexi has the best filtration system, but the HKS flowed the best. Just my two cents worth.

apexi needs no oil. flows better than paper. comes with its own adapter to mount to the afm housing. why are we still arguing this. just go to suprasport.com and buy it! well worth it.

theres the proof. posted earlier and still there.

Lots of things flow better than paper. No filter at all flows better than paper. All of them flow more dirt than paper. Paper flows all you'll ever need and filters better than anything. Run anything but paper, do oil analysis, and you'll see. Filters are not the limiting factor with airflow, intake design is. This isn't rocket science you know...it's been proven time and again. If you care about your engine you'll run paper. I also should point out the new combo paper/synthetic fiber filters are looking very good in testing. Everything else is hype and marketing BS.

Jetjock, What is the hks filter made of? After reading the above article, I'm swithching to an Apexi filter. The HKS filter was horrible on stopping dirt and stuff from entering the turbo. The Apexi looked like it stopped molecules from getting past it.
