Why is my car slow?

Alright I know its not technically slow buts its just not very fast. I raced a 280sx dont really know the year but hes got intake and exhaust and its a 4 cylinder 5 speed. it was about 2 block straight and he was behind me. when I took off I was pulling away and then I see him staying behind me but not gaining but im not pulling away either.
We hit about 70mph before we had to slow. I had me and another big guy in the car and he was alone.

I dont really know why but it makes me mad that I couldnt lose this 4 banger. I was hitting around 7psi boost and holding but I think I have a boost leak because it just feels like its losing power the farther I go.

his car, is a light weight compared to the supra.
and to say he was alone in the car, and it was u and another person in ur car, doesnt help the fat ass supra very much.

edit:DAMN U IJ!!!!! lol beat me too it.

if you were only hitting 7psi then dont feel bad... they are lighter than you. fix any boost leaks and bump the boost up to 10psi then try it again you run away from him easy...

but if you have a boost leak you can definetly tell it.. if its bad enough.

Hey, don't feel bad! Those 280SX's are quick cars! And, if I'm not mistaken(?)they are 6 bangers, not fours!:icon_razz My brother had a 260 a long time ago, and it was a six. Put some decent mods on your car, mainly address the hg issue (HKS mhg/ARP studs) and boost your car up a little. You will be pleasently surprised how much quicker it will be! Weight is a big issue with the Supra. However, because the 7M can make so much torque when upgraded correctly, you can still make our big girls move ass pretty well! Torque gets you moving, HP keeps you moving! Don't be discouraged, the heart of a lion lives within' your Supra,:naughty: just takes some research and $ to wake it up!:biglaugh:

I'm guessing he had more than just intake and exhaust, because your supra should handle a 240 sx four banger with ease.

those cars are crappy slow unless they put an sr20 in there then its pretty quick. i raced a 24sx that was j-spec so it was actually a 180 but it was turbo and i pulled him in second gear but when we hit third it was all him. damn light cars. hey i have one of those motors too its from my bros old 240

i did the stock to stock compare for power to weight
the 240sx is 18.58lbs\hp
my car is 17.02lbs\hp

I added 150 to his car because he was alone and hes a pretty small kid and whatever else hes got in the car.
I added 500 to mine because me and my friend are pretty big plus the stuff ive got in my car

I think if we lined up next to each other id take him and I did leave him till about the middle of 2nd gear

My friend raced a 240SX that had a intake and exhaust with his 89 NA auto and pulled on him a little!!!

pressurize the turbo pipes and see if you can hear a leak. get an air compressor, hook it up and hook up a pressure gauge and put about 7 psi and see if you hear any leaks. i dont know exactly how, thats just what i would try and do if i wanted to find a boost leak.

LOL nice explanation of torque but thats not true at all. Torque always moves the car, the rpm is how long u can use that torque for in that gear sorta to put it simple.
I donno how a 240sx could sorta hang with u, my friends echo hatch beats the ka24de version of the car.
