In regards to the original question... so the car can stop as well as it goes. If I'm moving along and God forbid someone either carelessly wanders into my lane or someone runs a red light... it's nice to know I can bring up my lunch on command.

I thought the stock brakes weren't bad...alittle soft, and had some play in the pedal but not bad. That thought changed the other night when I ended up in the bumper of my friend with brand new brakes. SS brake lines are a must in my near future, These cars are just too heavy.

SS brake lines wont save you... a BBK might. ;)

If you think the stock brakes are good, you aren't going fast enough. I've set stock (upgraded pad/rotor) brakes on fire in just a few hard decels.

definatley been there in my old car, tryin to come down from 165 on stock Firehawk brakes, big flames

I did not think I needed larger brakes untill the following:

1) Modify your engine so your making over 400rwhp. (Easy, many on here are there and more.)
2) Drive a few passes inside of a mile each where you go from 0 to 140ish back to 0 again. (mine lasted for 5 miles of this, then NO BRAKES.)
OK, to all the naysayers, drilled rotors, super carbon ceramic pads, new fluid, magic fluid or whatever you think will work, the only upgrade is an increase in overall swept area, and thermal sink/dispersant. (Surface area.) I had Axxes metal master pads, newer fluid and perfect rotors. Actually, they are still fine right now.

So, tooling along at 140mph, coming up to a stop sign, push on the brakes, nothing.. Really nothing at all. Pump them, slight decrease in speed, but not much, downshift to 4th, then 3rd, overrev the motor, don't care, there's another car coming, and he has NO stop sign... Standing on the brakes with both feet, pushing as hard as I can, barely slowing down, downshift to second, not going to make it, going to blow the sign, and get hit, see the eyes on the guy who's got the right of way, his eyes are as big as saucers, and he's hitting the brakes, I notice the nose of his car dive as my car runs the intersection and finally comes to a stop almost through it.... Wheh! That sucked.
Then the burning smoke cloud catches up to the Supra, billows into the open windows, and chokes my Brother and I as we waive to the guy who stopped, and thank him for not T-boning us as he could have...

Get out and check the FIRE in the brakes, then decide to just drive slowly on them to cool them down, smoke stops, and after a while, they start to work again. Never warped them, and the pads still worked fine, but it was only a short time later I bought my BBK for BOTH the front and rear brakes. Never going to allow my need for power and speed overcome the ability of the car's brakes to slow the vehicle down.

Specs.
14x1.38" front rotors on alloy hats. Clamped by Wilwood GNIII 6 piston calipers.
14x1.25" rear rotors on steel hats with custom drums for the stock parking brake clamped by Wilwood Billet Dynalite 4 piston calipers.

Fade is zero. Never have been able to smoke them yet. Multiple stops from 140mph, just stops, and if anything get's better as they heat up.

Bought the brakes from PB, but would not reccomend them to anyone as the service after the sale, and the time needed to get this kit made up was not acceptable. I'm going to have to custom balance the front rotors as they are not true, and also they "pulsed" from the start, and my attempts at cleaning them up have only dented the problem, not fixed it. (Going to turn the rotors, and have them balanced. After installing the brakes, I picked up a vibration at highway speed. So much for CNC control, and balanced rotors. The brake bias front to rear was one of the few things PB got right. It's perfect. Also the hardware is top notch, but the brake lines SUCKED. Sucked is not even what you want to say when you spend over 4500.00 for brakes on your car. Hint Hint PB. Don't make shitty lines for quality brakes or you'll never hear the end of it.

because I just LOVE how my AP Racing big brakes with metal pads screech like a BITCH when slowing to a stop around town, it just screams "check me out, you think my brakes are f'd when they actaully cost over 3k..." :icon_mad:

They do stop like a mo-fo though when I get on 'em

I have the AP kit but some added custom work for mine. I use Ferodo pads and mine never squeal. I have KVR carbon pads in the rear.

Brakes are needed in a big hp Supra. I have faded mine many times and a few too close for comfort calls as well. That made me get a kit. So I waited and saved in my piggy bank and ta da! Here I have them!

AP or Brembo are the 2 top brake kits but are pricy. IMO are worth every penny :biglaugh: So "save your money" *insert english accent here*
