Why arent we making 1500 HP?

I wanna know why us 7M's arent making the power the those high and mighty 2JZ people are. We have essentially the same engine as them, so whats holding us back?

The best 7M setups are pushing what...700-800 HP?

2JZ's are making twice that. Why is the 2JZ so much better at making power over the 7M, theyre both 3.0 liter, 24 Valve, I-6.

Centrelines for the Valve spacing restricts us to +1mm valves, 2JZ are +1.5mm stock and can go even bigger.

You can only flow xxx through xx size valves there's no magic involved.

You need to make HPF's sell thier mk4 and build a 7M mk3. Plus, the 2jz came later so they realized thier design flaws in the 7m and fixed them with the 2jz. Wait till summer with some of the build threads here...

You can tip as much money as you like into a 7M the cold hard facts are that it will only ever flow as much as the largest valves you can squeeze into the space allowed by an 83mm bore....... :3d_frown:

talk to allan(defiant 7m). that man is doing ome crazy work trying to make his na pull air like a turbo. he might be running the 2j valves/ some crazy shit going on inside that head.

He needs to make a build thread. I wanna know how hes doing it. His 7MGTE is insane, making that kinda power on stock bore, and the stock head too.

There isnt a "design flaw". The JZ head was designed for more high rpm operation, as already pointed out. It flows more, end of story.

With displacement the same, the torque can be about the same, but the torque will drop sooner in the 7M than the JZ head.

And yeah, I am not willing to dump $50,000 grand into a car. Or more.

Mibrum/Brian's motor is very close to my motor in spec the differences are the enormous custom almost square cams and the huge induction system needed to supply the motor.

There IS a limit and I don't believe anyone has tipped enough $$$ into either a 7M of a 2JZ yet to find it in either motor but the 2JZ's will be higher due to flow potential.

Nick: I was referring to the massive open water jackets around the cylinders where 90% of our head gaskets fail. I am not familiar with the 2jz, but it sure looks like Toyota addressed this "flaw" when I look at the 2jz head gasket..

No offense meant but when I search for BHG I get like 476 threads here.. :dunno:
