The best model I've heard is that cops divide all people into 3 categories - Cops, Criminals, and Civilians. They know that the system is inadequate at catching the criminals, so if they slot you into that category, they'll go out of their way to make you miserable.

It's our job to make certain we are categorized as Civilians.

That said, police spend 90% of their time dealing with the nastiest 10% of society. If you think you can do that job for any length of time without being severely affected by it, well, I think you're an idealist, but all the power to you, it's not a job *I* would want to deal with.

Because they spend their working days dealing with the moronic general population? (that has to be enough to give someone a superiority complex)

There is WAY too much truth to this!

I work at a restaurant, and I'm painfully reminded this every time I work.

Bingo! My brother is a cop and thats almost verbatim to what he told me his job was like. He now flys the chopper and has mellowed alot. It's a dangerous thankless job with low pay.

Thanks for the words and encouragement guys. It means a lot to me. Definitely not doing it for the pay. I am doing it so the little old lady will feel safer when she looks out of her window and sees me drive by. Or so I can get a drunk off of the road before they kill one of your family members, or him/herself. And to be a positive role model for kids. (I looked up to the police when they came to my school.) The benefits are good too.:naughty:
Alright, I'm tired of being mushy. Off to the porn section I go.
lol, no pun intended. :biglaugh:
