Who thinks the LHC will end the world or have any chance of doing anything harmful?

And the practical application is?

Well. Now or when they figure out how much juice (power) either requires? :)

I think if I remember, the LHC is running its own power station and it will take lots and lots of juice to recreate that in a much larger scale.

But just for the sake of this post.... lets say that all power requirements are met. Those nice year plus long missions to mars, etc will now be minutes.

How about back on earth? New ways of transmitting signals REAL time and I do mean real time (no lag between say China and the US on TV shows). Faster process chips based on who knows what tech.

atoms go smashy smashy little poof *scientist dudes/dudets* "ooooooo ahhhhhhh" *mr hawking* "that, was, cool".......

the end.

its stable have you seen the size of the damn magnet surrounding and and if you remember its under ground :p i'll let you know if england goes under but really i think its cool

if they can figure out if darkmatter exists understanding what it is and how it works could lead to faster travel through space.

note i am not in any way good at science :D so i don't have a clue what i'm on about. just thought i'd post because its the cool thing to do.

erm yea

Give it time! Someone will.

Kill someone by increasing their mass 10X. Skin exploded an all guts pop out.....

Normally I'd say America has been doing that for 50+ years already but seeing how much to my shame Australia has overtaken the US per Capita in fat bastards I can't ;)

ROFL!!

its a weapons system developed by major corporations! :biglaugh:

*is thinking of those 2,050 calorie 'health' salads at chain restaurants, or the woman who bought a 15$ sub at subway when i was there the other day... 15$ sub with every thing imaginable on it*

I've played "out of this world" I remember the opening cutscreen.

I been watching and reading about this experiment for months... but if I see some star trek or resident evil shit show up saying their from a different dimension I'm going be a little pissed.

eh, so much money being spent you know damn well once its in better stages te governments of the world will make it into a weapon as already mentioned. image a big brother that can make your head pop like its a scene from akira or scanners or something.

smartass and weirded comments aside, I hope all goes well for what their doing.

I'm continually baffled that we have so many backwards assed primitives these days.

Keep banging rocks together, you'll figure it out eventually...

thanks for this thread i understand more on the situation i dont no much about physics but after reading all of every ones posts i understand more about LHC and now im interested in what the result will be srry for being ignorant about some thing i dont no about
