I remember seeing a thread here a long time ago about solid subframe bushings/spacers. I looked on bic website but no luck. I can find the nylon ones anybody nylon vs solid? :1zhelp:

I have Randy's (BIC) Solid Subframe "Bushings". They're solid pucks of aluminum that go into the stock mount, just like the ones that zokustyle just posted. I haven't used them, but from a simplistic standpoint, they do everything designed, nothing less and nothing more. Initially I was a bit let down at how simple they were, but I can't say any bad things about the design. It's perfect.

I have them from BIC, but they're nylon, not AL.
Like you say, they do their job. Expect a bit more noise to be transmitted inside, of course.

the so called solid alu bushings which are referred to are only replacing the disc between the subframe and body.
You are still using stock rubber bushings or something else.
Just wanted to point this out so that there are no misunderstandings.
For complete alu solid bushing replacements, take a look in my project thread.

Link to your thread?

I'd be interested in turning a set for the race car but I'd like to see what you did. If I can do them for a reasonable price, I'd offer them to the community. I've made solid cradle mounts for Fieros many times and by looking at our Supras, these look simpler but would take a bit more material.

Thanks Jack. I had found the thread and need to do some measurements but to me, for what work is needed. $100 for a set of 6 is fairly high for the set from Beech since they ony provide (it appears) the top half of the spacer. The set that eraezer made is actually the right way to do it, IMHO, although I might design them a bit different just from a production aspect, but I'd have to think about it a little bit before deciding. Regardless, they'd all work the same.

Is there any reason a top and bottom plate couldn't be just machined from 3/8" steel plate, welded to the subframe at the 6 mounting locations, and bolted up? I don't see any difference doing this compared to aluminum aside from the significant cost savings. Metal bushings are metal bushings at this point...I doubt there is any difference in either suspension feel, or noise/vibration transfer between steel and aluminum. 12 steel circles with holes in the middle could be made for $20 or less if you already have the material on hand.

I'm planning on taking this approach with my project.
