Yes, you're right about the hydro fan having regulated speed, but it doesn't move as much air when your engine is idling as two e-fans, the oil pressure is simply too low to generate enough power to spin the hydro fan fast.
No one over here is running the hydro fan, we all ditch it because e-fans simply flow much more air. When mine switch on, I can feel the hot air blowing under the car, throwing up quite some dust. The hydro fan does not do that.

And the stock thermo-switch IS suitable to switch the e-fans, I've been running mine for over 5 years without ever missing a beat and my temp gauge is allways rock solid in the middle, never goes up or down.
The relay, wiring and thermo-switch is reliable; it has been engineered to last.

I know your not using the stock temp gauge to talk about "rock solid" water temps. It has been proven time and again that the stock gauge will stay in the "middle" up to 110C ~ 115C and as low as 80C. That's a 30 degree difference.

We can agree to disagree then, because I know that the hydrofan on high pulls a lot more air then FAL fans, and even more then the Spal race fans.
In my experience that stock switch turns on only when the engine is well above operating temperature, so even though it may look solid, it's at a solid temperature that is near overheating. People usually take the hydrofan off because they don't understand it's operation, those who do understand how good it works would never want to remove it, especially for electric fans.

holy thread blowup. remember guys, that i cant run hydrofan, unless i can find all the parts in one place :)rofl:) and attempt to put a disassembled hydrofan assembly together. Ive decided to go e-fan and will be placing my order with suprarich for his flexalite fan on his ebay. then its off to driftmotion.com to get the front+rear main seals, the PS hose and the banjo fitting, and off to BIC to get a set of motormount adaptors. ill just wire the fans up to a keyed power source, with a 75 amp relay that ill make sure to hide. ill also loop the hydrofan hoses after i replace them with transmission cooler lines (that ill try and hide as well).

Sorry to hijack your thread, I was just defending the hydrofan.:biglaugh:
