LOL i hope you didn't pay too much for your "super secret" valve body (that someone didn't give you the super secret shaft.... ;)

Is it working out though? How much did you pay? Any dyno or track numbers?

^ LOL so that's what i've got to look forward to :p
i've got another tranny which has upgraded clutches and apparently valvebody which not long after being built started slipping then removed and replaced with stock
i'm hoping that it's recoverable (cheaply lol)

thats one thing i was curious about too... how would i tell if it has been upgraded? anyone know?

:)

look at the clutchs and count how many there are, another good sign if there blue - typicaly RAYbestos blue clutchs.

and check the accumulators for stiffer springs / shimed / copper pipes / rods etc...

haha. i got a pretty good deal since i set up multiple purchases. i think it was $2300 or so. was normally $3100.

so far it has held up to everything that ive thrown at it. did 419rwtq at low boost and run some 9's w/ terrible traction. w/ the new setup i'm gonna really put it to the test. have considered going to a gm later on.

ok a few things worth looking at... (introduction to modifying autos)

firstly a BIG auto cooler, oil temps over 100/110c half the life of your auto

secondly shim it up...
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=267655&page=1&pp=25

If you start sliping due to high power output rather then just a worn out trans its time to get SERIOUS...

This shows a few mods you can do to a 7M auto using a later 2JZ-GTE auto for parts ;)
http://www.supras.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=52

So find a 2jz-gte auto and steal some parts from it :) basicly the more clutches you can get in the more power you can put thru the auto before it slips!

The best reference is:
http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/at/AT_070.html

and get a dead 7m auto strip it down and look at how everything comes apart, look at whats worn out! most a340's die due to heat once auto oil is burnt it becomes an abrasive and kills the auto in short time!

if the oil is brownish and smelly - flush it out (about 15ltrs for a stock auto setup) it should be a clear red like new oil!

service your auto every 2 engine services or after every race meet, check the oil for chunky stuff!

use toyota auto trans oil - http://planetsoarer.com/autotrans/autotrans.htm

Just dynoed and put down 408.6/390.9 at 16 psi on built auto and 91 octane.
Looking to do an AEM EMS/Suprastick install next and take out the MAFT Pro along with installing FMIC & FFI.

Any other auto 7mgte's running AEM with Suprastick?

He's beat the 10.47 Matt. I'm not sure if he's posted it yet, but he has beat it. Of course, the chevrolet transmission isn't really fair and shouldn't count as a supra anymore..........:evil2:

Did you build it with the ray bestos blue clutches from IPT? Did you have the valve body rebuilt and what torque converter did you go with?

Me? Im not sure exactly what was put into the tranny, i know the clutches were changed for performance but im unsure the brand/type, Wasnt from IPT though. The clutches were the main thing that was changed. Also installed some other hard parts but im unsure of the extent. The shop gave me a little bit of a runaround and im a little weary of this unit but its holding up good so far.

Valve body and hydraulics are stock other then the adjustment on the valve body, valve setting in the SF thread. I didnt want to change the way the tranny shifted as the accumulator mods make the tranny shift hard/fast enough.

I had also herd horror stories about running modified valve bodys/hydraulics on the street killing trannys.

The converter im using is one from SIP, Suprarich around here, Its rated as 3000 stall but i can get about 3100-3200 depending on how well i can stop the tires from spinning or the car from rolling.

Thanks for the info.
My wife's tranny is built using the RBB clutches. I also sent them her valve body and they rebuilt it. It shifts very quick, no hesitation. She doesn't make enough power at the moment to put any strain on the tranny, but she will be soon, once I finish installing her gt35r onto it.
