If you have one installed, or just laying around, could you take some photos? im really thinkin about buyin one, but i would love to see it on a black MK3... i know the GB has a picture or two, but i want to see some others that have it. And feedback of how you like the hood too would be great. Thanks in advance.

So after doing some searching... I discovered that the stout hood nick is getting made are "fakes"... but i could honestly care less. a hood is a hood as long as it functions like its advertised.

But nobody has an OEM style carbon hood or anything? I really wanna see some like amatuer pics of there car with the hood.

guess i'll go relook at the ebay ones... but i would like to see some of the real world pictures.

FYI, the cf version is a waste of cash seeing as it is only cf over fg, not completely carbon as you may think. The price difference between carbon and fiberglass is enough to not warrant the carbon; unless ofcourse you bought Nick's version...

IIRC the underbracing is FRP, and the top is CF on the original, so it is lighter...

IMHO, if you're gonna paint it, go with FRP, not going to paint it, go with CF...

My car is black, i want to see the CF, i love CF, as long as its a good weave and its a quality product... but im also scared of the fading... but couldnt i just buff it every weekend and then clear coat it every year or something?

And i can easily see spending 550 + shipping (might road trip to go get it).
I'll never go out and spend $1400 on a hood... unless i found a giant briefcase full of money...

buff it, and make sure you wax it with a good UV protection wax...

depends a whole lot on the resin they sues, as they are UV stabilized resins now that won't fade...

I've just seen a lot of hoods that dont look pretty... not that the hood i have now is very pretty. haha. I'll go look around for some UV protection wax right now... mothers should offer some, or maybe 3m...

Well my paint now sucks so much ass... its defintaley a daily driver beater style car... but i have an 89 bumper, and an 89 wing to put on, and then i was going to go and get a nice fresh coat of paint on it... I have 2 jobs now, so money is a little easier to come by. And im not turbo, so im getting some decent gas mileage.

I like the one on Duanne's white Supra (CFX right?).

But I think all those funky (vented, cowled, scooped etc.) hoods ruin the best part of the Supra's looks. The long hood line and all that sloping metal are what makes the Supra such a great looker.

I like carbon fiber hoods but I wouldn't give my my supra the "muscle car" look. It just looks tacked on.

I was actually thinking of making a thread just about this...lol ..but you beat me to it.

the stout hood looks great! I'm definitely getting one now. How much does a FRP stout hood cost anyways?

suprabad: the only reason I really like the stout hood is how functional it is, I like the stock look as well, but the stout looks good while performing great (compared to some other ones I've seen)
