I've read the faqs, but pass along some of the things you wish you would have done during your swap but you didn't know to do. New front & rear main seals, hoses, etc are a given, but is there anything else that you wished you would have done?

If you are keeping A/C, make sure the compressor is in working condition and not seized.Aslo change the AC compressor's top plate as well so that the 7m acpipes will fit.
These are little things, but snnoying to get to after engine is in.
Also, put on the 3inch y-pipe and downpipe while the engine is out of the car.It is a pain inthe ass to exchange those after engine is installed.
Plug in the boost controller hoses to the waste gate of the rear turbos as well, since it is hard to reach when the car is in the engine.

Clean the engine before putting it in...

I'm going single right off the bat. Paint the block, polish the aluminum, ect....

Thanks for the info!

on my second engine i ordered a gasket kit and just replaced all the important things. I don't expect anything to fail on this engine anytime soon except maybe the turbos...

What did you pay for it & where did you buy from?

Also, what's the deal with GEMU & Emanage Blue? I'm guessing that GEMU can't be made to work (or all of the options at least), that's fine, so is Blue the way to go? Also, can blue control the injectors & timing?

well actually let me step back. i think it was 138 + ship. but that was like about 10 bucks or less or something so its still cheap... considering you get the full gasket kit.

Depending on how many miles are on the engine, it may be a good idea to change the timing belt and serpentine belt before you stick it in. They're a little bit easier to get to with the engine out, and if you're going to be changing stuff anyways, might as well do it.

And, if you're keeping the stock turbos, I would suggest redoing the vacuum lines to accept a boost controller now, as the lines on the rear turbo are next to impossible to change with the engine in the car.

Hydrofan is great because it can flow an insane amount of air to keep your engine (and engine compartment) cooler.

I know that GEMU has it's problems, but how about Emanage Blue? Isn't BIC running it? I'd love to have timing & injector control, so any info would be great.....
