Hi guys, I am in the market for a new turbo on my 7m as I just found out that my current CT26 is burning oil like nobody's business, and looks like a piece of used bubblegum thanks to the previous owner running compression surge instead of a bov...for quiet some time by the looks of it. I was not planning on replacing the stock turbo, but now as I have to, it seems like a good idea, and for just a little more money than replacing with stock, is a good performance upgrade. So ultimately, I would like a good condition second hand CT26 57 Trim, as it bolts straight on, is reliable, with the benefit of good power gains and still spooling quiet early (from what ive read). My question is, is there a better turbo for around the same price that is just as good if I used something like this ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MR2-...Q5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_3250wt_1010 ) obviously with a few gaskets aswell ? Your input and recommendations would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Jon

If you have time, and some money, go for the T4 setup. In the long run, I think you'll be happier, and the parts to rebuild the unit are cheaper. You'll spend more money up front: Intake, down pipe, oil system, etc.

Is it possible to rebuild upgraded turbo's yourself, such as a 57 Trim CT26 ? Are there kits ? I know there are for the stock CT26, there all over ebay, but wouldn't have thought they would fit with the upgraded wheel etc.
