Which pistons? Eagle, JE, Ross, Crower?

Hi guys!

I tried the search but it was more than non-efficient... :nono:

I´ve started with a complete engine rebuild. Everything´s fine, however, I have to come to a decision concerning pistons and rods.

The cylinder head is brand new (new from Toyota). It was a lucky find. The turbo as well. I´d like to use parts which are of high quality and hassle free.

I like the JE pistons but heard a couple of bad feedbacks. It´s the same story with Eagle...

Now, can anyone help me find the "best" pistons & rods which are capable for roundabout 500-600RHP?

And by the way: Is Shineauto still "alive"? I need a BOMEX (replica) front lip...

Thanks,
Sar

For the 500-600 RWHP range I would go with either JE or wesico pistons (kinda a personal preferance thing). When it comes to rods I belive that when properly prepared stock rods can handle that power but a nice set of Eagle rods would not be a bad investment just be sure to have them checked out before use.

I used forged Ross pistons in my last project, but I wasn't pushing for big numbers. I used them for a nitrous application. Never had any issues. Haven't used anything else as of yet.

Thanks fellas!

Well, I´m not sure, yet. Probe pistons seem to be "ok", BUT since there´s nothing of an input from experienced people, I´d like to know if the stock pistons could handle 500RHP?

Talk to Doward about these pistons, the people at Probe have the best prices because they aren't out to get a ton off each purchase it should be plenty for your application. As for stock pistons 500whp, I've seen one but idk how long it lasted, best to stay safe and go forged.

Ive used Je in the past, mainly because Ive found they tend to melt instead of implode when I got too greedy with the boost knob; which means less work on the rebuild of the rebuild. granted, this was on an entirely different engine, so ymmv. I like to blow em up.

How much RHP did you achieve?

I have a question, which kind of pins would you choose if you had a choice?
I just ordered a set of custom Arias pistons with tool steel pins, which are the best pins they offer. They have the standard pins, a heavy duty pins which are heavier then standard, and a tool steel pin which is about the same weight as standard but can supposedly handle a lot more horsepower. After talking to a few people I'm thinking that maybe the heavy duty pin might be a better choice because it is less brittle, and it might be a little more forgiving in case there was detonation.
