do you tell people at the gym playing basketball that they are wasting their time because they will never be pro?

had some one say that to me the other day:aigo:

I think that there both good skills to have.

in skateboarding you learn balance, cowrdination, and pain tolarece(face plant on concreate hurt no matter what anyone says)

drifting on the other hand teaches you how to control you car, and may save you in an emergacy

(my spelling sucks I know this dont bother telling me)

I should have never quite, it was great excersize but the pain was another story
i still have my borad from many any years ago. i put it away when it was nrealy brand new to focus onschool and shit. I should have never quit either. it was reallly fun and i agree, i think i quit when we started to do 3sets and 5 sets daily. it was pain -_- for real... My setup was Grind King Trucks, darksteel wheels, speed demon bearings i think, home depot hardware (rofl), and a John Ratray Zero board (i loved this setup) hmm maybe ill start again in summer? who knows!

my old set up was independant trucks, spitfire / darkstar wheels, any hardware, and any ~7.5" wide deck that had a decent shape to it. i usually enjoyed riding element wood but i used to break a deck every week or week and a half so there was no point in getting attatched. :p

speaking of which i still have 2 full set ups at my lil bro's appartment. maby its time to pick it up again :D

I always liked a bigger board. Usually an 8" or sometimes an 8.25". Zero bearings, Satori wheels. I liked Real, Anti-Hero, AWS and Zero decks. Or shop decks, they were the same wood as Real though.

They're both useless in the fact that you can get through life perfectly fine, normal, and unharmed without ever squealing a tire or touching a skateboard. But if you enjoy one of the activities, then it is no longer useless to you. And as its been pointed out, if its constructive and keeps you from sitting around on your ass doing drugs or getting into trouble, well, there ya go.

But, I vote skateboarding is more useless just cuz I can't skate for crap :D
I wanna practice, but the idea of drifting (while I know it is pretty much useless-not to mention costly) has always seemed fun to me, so I'd like to get better at it. Yeah. Thats all.

drifting can be cool and useful skateboarding is for broke losers who smoke weed
Funny, but totally untrue. (Well, OK, it is true for the most part but generalizations just kinda bug me :))
