skateboarding is good exersize. i'll go with drifting. (though, if you ever get in a sideways slide out of control, skateboarding won't help you there...)

perhaps neither is useless in it's own unique way...

can't vote...

SKATEBOARDING!!!!...I know way too many USELESS skateboarders from where I grew up. At least with drifting the person has to set goals to be able to buy a car and work on it somewhat. That has merit in my mind. You can buy a skateboard with you allowance from your parents...

nothing is usless if you have fun doing it.

people ask me: why do you modify your car? its a waste of money.

I say "I like driving fast. this helps me do so"

EDIT:but then again, look at my sig..

Drifting is more useless.

as pointed out before, skateboarding atleast is exercise, and teaches something of grace and foot-eye coordination.

Drifting teaches every bad driving habit known to man. I admit it does teach ABIT about how to control a slide, which is usefull.... but I can't condone it, sliding is sliding, drifting is green haired punks in fwd cars thinking they're cool 'cause they can cross the car up into a corner.

pointless question.

nothing is useless aslong as you get enjoyment from it. It provdes entertainment and makes you happy.

it seems you are asking which of these things that i hate, you hate the most...:icon_conf

if you dont like it ignore it, its not your life or problem, k thx...

I'm going to go with drifting because it's more expensive over time to maintain your car with the added abuse. Though I do think having experience with drifting would help you recover control of your car in an emergency situation.

not to sound like an ass, but i think that this thread is more pointless than either. both are fun and take alot of skill to pull off well.

:word8kn: i totally agree why is either useless I was a hardcore skater untill i got my supra, and believe it or not it kept me out of trouble, hanging out with friends having a good time and progressing in something you enjoy, if you wanna hate on that, than maybe you dont have any life goals and should kill yourself:icon_mad: ..... everyone has things they enjoy. do you tell people at the gym playing basketball that they are wasting their time because they will never be pro? ok then, maybe you just cant do either and thats why you hate, i dont want to sound like a dick but seriously whats the point here

To me, they're both equally useless skills. Skills meaning something you have to perfect over a period of time to get good at.

No matter how silly the thread, I can always point to the "waffles vs pancakes" thread. If that thread is allowed to exist, any thread is allowed to exist.

explain. people have given arguments supporting these activitys and all you toss in is they are useless.

in controlled environments they are relatively safe, and provide entertainment that is not detrimental to others. Not tomention that they do create and sustain jobs in several ways.

I think that gives them enough credit to be considered usefull.

what say you?

im the same way shaeff, skaters tend to be very fit people who set goals and dont give up very easily,

in some sense same with drifters..

but the idea of the matter is, one who skates learns to balence, and one who drifts learns to save his car in un-predicted slides.. ~ask how i know ;-)

Skateboarding is better exercise and it makes you tougher, more patient, very focused and very, very in touch with your body. In drifting there are too many variables, IMO. Skateboarding all the way!
