I thought the R154 and W58 used the same shifter. NVM is see now that the R154 doesn't use the same socket. If the RHDJapan kit only provides the seat and knuckle bushing I can't see how if could possible be worth that much. You can buy replacement parts from Marlin Crawler every year for several years and not pay that much.

You'll have nearly zero play in the shifter (depending on how worn your guide pins and slots are)

I'd buy one... but I'm broke and I have bigger fish to fry

I just bought a used one for $80.00 from Dr.Jonez
Hopefully this will be an improvement. I never even realized my car had a lot of slack. That's the way it's always felt.

I think for most, the Marlin Crawler one is more than sufficient.

If you can justify the cost of the Ab-Flug, have at it. I had a nylon one before I went with a short shifter and I can't imagine any less play, so I doubt anyone would know the difference once installed.

On a side note, now I really want some pan fried rainbow trout.

I have the nylon one from drift motion and it feels a hell of a lot better than the old stock one.

I checked out DM, and noticed that they have a OEM shifter bushing and a hardened Urethane one also. The OEM shifter bushing is more than the Hardened Urethane Shifter Bushing. Is the OEM one better than the hardened Urethane shifter bushing?

No

The urethane one is the marlin crawler one that everyone loves (and people like me have been saying to buy forever...)
