It shouldn't be the dimensions of the octagon itself that are the issue, the real issue is the curvature of the spare tire well and the piece that sticks up and secures the tire. How did you work are these obstacles?
I have two boxes just like that one in the back of my car, well one I took out recently but the same. Got them at the local audio/installation shop. like $50-60 each. sounds freaking amazingly loud in our cars
