My 7MGTE block is still in the car. The head was removed but the bottom end and tranny are still in the car. I have no where to hook the hoist to. Where do you guys hook the hoist to get the block out the best?

Two head bolts in the back...two in the front with a short piece of chain in between each ;)

Are you the one who tapped them too big?

Just buy a couple of bolts at a parts store that will fit...

Ahhh...yeah, I saw that ;)

Try M14x1.5 bolts...get good ones you can screw in deep as possible. I would use a safety chain around the bottom of the block or attached to the motor mounts in this case.

I've done this method just a little more dangerously, and used one bolt on Driver's side between 5-6, and the other on the other side between 1-2.....But JDub always has a smarter way than me. I wouldn't have posted this, but you may only have 2 good holes left.

I second that earlier question..........What the hell happened to your holes? Filled with white paint maybe? You may have to clean some threads up to get that thing out.

Or, since the head has been removed, you could easily remove the tranny, and use the motor mounts to pull the motor straight up. If you do this be sure to support your tranny with a jack, and just pull tension on the motor with your lift, because there will be some weight shifting when they seperate. Then you'll need some kind of way to keep that motor from doing flips on it's way out.

EDIT**********Wow, I shouldn't watch TV and post at the same time.

This is what we did to my last Supra.

Me and another 15 year old buddy LIFTED the engine out BY HAND with THE HEAD STILL ATTACHED!!

Just unbolt the engine from the tranny, jack the engine up some, and have a bunch of buddys lift it out or something

Pull the trans. Bolt a chain to one of the top holes for the bell housing, and the other end to where the t.b. tensioner goes. If you look around on the sides of the block, there should be some bracket mounts that you can use as well. The higher the better.

Either that, or drill and tap 2 of the holes for the head bolts to a bigger size.

what i did was use jdub's method posted. BUT, i remember we had a similar predicament with a BMW 525, so we used the motor mounts entirely for the job.
