I got my 1jz from JHOT. The pan got fucked up durring shipping, and they tossed me 500 to get a new one. Awesome people, great service and clean motors. When I took off the pan, not one bit of sludge and the coolant lines were full of toyota red.

I've contacted jhot twice now and feel a little bit like I've been brushed off on both occasions. This is their last response:

The only difference is that on the first email they said they should be recieving more on their next shipment. I even went as far as offering a deposit on the next 2j motor they recieved or could get their hands on... It's starting to look like I'm going to shop elsewhere.

Ahh, diana doesn't know what the next shipment will entail. I always spoke to the guy above her, although her southern accent made me want to talk to her more.

Zoon, you work for JHOT, that is awesome to know.

I might actually look into calling your denton location, but considering these folks are down the block from me in GA I might try once more to contact the other guy that foreverpsychotic was talking about.

As far as southern accents... When I moved down here from ny I may have found them cute as hell, but now they're just boring.

i ordered my 2jz from "japan general motors". they had like 15 different 2jz in stock, including rear sumps, front sumps and vvti motors.
am very satisfied with the motor, had perfect compression .when i changed the oil pans , i looked at the main and rod bearings, and wow they looked new and measured out into spec!
i payed $1500 canadian with everything included, except for the body connector that plugs into the ecu. which i bought from another place for $40.
by the way this place is in montreal, canada.
what i don't recommend is buying from any of the website's from the montreal jdm shops, because you will probable end up missing plenty of stuff!
i had to run around asking for the ecu, igniter, starter and a couple of other things.
i haven't dealt with osaka, but have heard only bad stories about them.
their engines are piled up on top of eachother, and usually damaged externally.
i've also dealt with "jdm racing motors",had great service and the people there are really nice. shop looked hella clean as well.

let me know when you get your engine and stuff.... i think you were somewhat near me so i might be able to swing by and give you a hand :)

I ended up going with Jhot on my 1jz. Was gonna go 2j, but happened to find a JZA70 1jz motor/trans set in a spreadsheet of their inventory. Really helpful folks over there, I got mine from their Georgia warehouse. Better act quick though if you're gonna go through the GA Jhot, they're closing up shop in a couple weeks if not sooner.

As for the quality of the motor, I gotta say... VERY nice. I didn't even see pictures of it before-hand (what can I say, I've taken risks before :p ) but I'm more than happy. Included EVERYTHING that a factory Supra needs (and some stuff I happen to already have in the body side of things), along with a couple nice extras.

Extras? It had a Greddy BOV already, and the front twin had been replaced at some point, but both turbos actually seem to be in decent enough shape. Oh, and the FMIC and piping came too... I could go on, but I'd say they're DEFINITELY worth your money man. ;)
