I know where they all went. They went to the same place the Chevy Vega went to.
Because almost 100% of our MKIII's experience a BHG at between 75k-100K it happens when they are senior citizens. The owners take their cars to the repairman and are quoted approx $1700.00 for the repair pending there aren't any other issues once the cars apart. Well.. their cars are only worth around that much at the time so they junk them.
Same thing happened with the Chevy Vega. The just disappeared. Its ashame because the MKIII is an outstanding car unlike the Vega which was a POS. The Vega is completely gone because even after fixing it, it just didn't last. Once you sort out a BHG CORRECTLY on a MKIII you will have a trouble free supercar to drive for many many miles and years.
There are literally a handful of Supra's around here.

Well this sure isn't Technical and barely is General but fits squarely in useless:icon_roll

needs a little sanding but with a hammer could fit into OT.

OP, quit complaining. i've got the only mk3 in southwest VA :D and the first one to show up in a junkyard happens to be 3.5 hours away.

Have you searched for local car clubs? Best way to meet up with some local enthusiast/owners. It's beneficial in so many ways :)

OP I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. We've got plenty of MK3's around here. Even though there's only a handful in my immediate area, there are plenty of people taking these cars and restoring them or getting them running again and selling them. Take a BHG Supra for 500, do the headgasket and other things, get it running good and in good shape again, sell it for a profit. There are people out there interested in these cars if you look for them.

what the hell.. dude is saying that the mkiii supra is rare because a lot of them are scrapped due to bhg repair costs at dealerships/repair shops, which is true. not only bhg costs though.. its SO easy to 'total' a mkiii supra. book value is something we hardly consider as enthusiasts, but to anyone else who doesnt see shit like nate or duanes car, theyre just old shit boxes.

in response to OP:

yes man it sucks. but you own one right? might as well take it as far as you can and be proud to own one.

Like many other Toyota's,at least here in the Midwest.they have succumbed to rust/rotting out over the years due to winter/road salt.Same goes for a lot of cars that age.

I come from a land down under
Most have been bought by dumb ass FnF kids that get in way over their heads and end up parting them out when they discover they have NFI and and the real world isn't like the TV build shows :nono:

Yes, I agreed. Our MK3 is going to be pretty extinct soon.

Nowdays to get a halfcut MK3 is not easy here compared to 4 years ago.

:boink: but necassary, most people don't have the skills, (insert choice of bad mechanical experience here, that leads to trading in and going the buy a new car path), to take care of what they have. I know a few of us that made good use of those halfcuts.

Everyone got tired of being confused with a :
c4 corvette
fc rx7
ford probe
bmw 850

Everyone got tired of being asked, "when are you going to get a real sports car, like a mk4?"

Everyone got tired of explaining the 8 way adjustable seats as the most awesome feature of the car to the most cynical

Same here, never had the supras mistaken for another car,a lot of "What year bimmer is that?" comments about the cressida's though(MX63's),but they do look like the bimmers of the same era.
