Yes i understand you get what you pay for but im not pushing crazy HP/Torque and my clutch started slipping tonight. :( I don't have tons of cash but im not 100% willing to just throw crap in my car.

I don't need to go all out just need to be able to get by for for awhile.

Any suggestions or links would be very helpful

Im very un educated when it comes to clutches if my clutch is bad could i just replace it with a ACT clutch like in the link below for $150?

That is retarded.

Go on sf to champion or elmhurst toyota. A full clutch kit with pilot bearing, throw out bearing, reman pp, new clutch disc is about 220.

IMO you either do that or you spend 450+ on a quality clutch kit but its up to you.

We have used TONS and I mean probably 50 of these clutches over the last 3 years and had nothing but great results.

F1 racing on Ebay sold by grip force.

Stage 3 6 puck discs are 70.00 shipped the last time I checked. We recently did 450 whp through on of them on a resurfaced flywheel and has been driving it for the last 10k miles with no problems. If your looking for something good and cheap I would go with a F1 weather its a stock type or upgraded

My throwout baring actually went bad today. Clutch won't disengage. Managed to get it to my mechanics through rev match shifting ;) lol thank god my buddy had experience doing that. Don't mean to thread jack but would a basic assembly from autozone be fine when I'm running 260ish whp? It should be as good as stock right and will last plenty long enough to save up funds for a real quality kit?

Stock setup is cheap from champion or elmhurst toyota. Will last a while too. Ive heard bad things about parts store clutches.

So I'm kinda confused I'm pretty sure its the clutch slipping.

But if I get on it in first it doesn't seem to slip..

but like from 40 in fourth the rpms climb and then jump back down when it grabs same on the highway..

I have an F1 6 puck clutch and it slips like crazy.
And I don't have mad HP/TQ at the moment.
I say stock, or an Exedy stock kit would be just as good.

Easy test. Put it in 5th from a dead stop and see if you can start going. If you can its bad. If it stalls its good.

supraguy@aol did you get a new flywheel or resurface the flywheel and pressure plate when you put it in?

Were on the stage 3 making over what it says its rated for with no problems. Maybe something is binding up and causing it not to disengage all the way?

Thanks,
Devin

I puit it on a new aluminum flywheel.
I've been driving on it for 5,000+ miles, it started slipping after about 1,000.
It may be that I got a weak pressure plate, or something was just off, but regardless- for
my power goal plans(~400hp), I'd rather get a full-face disc with a better pressure plate, and avoid the chatter.

Act clutches are good.

But are you going to pull the trans and use a old worn pp and throw out and pilot bearings?

Thats crazy must have gotten a dud, I think we have used over 50 of them. We use a stage 3 on our Shop drift car making 465WHP 440 ftlbs of torque, Its seen tons of abuse and clutch kicks and still going strong.

Either way a stock OEM toyota disc and resurfaced/new flywheel and stronger PP should be able to hold 400 no problem

Edit: wow just realized our Formula drift car is on ACT's website :D cool!

Like i said stock complete setup is about 220 from champion. Maybe a little more. Should be more than enough to last a long time. Some people are even making over 350whp on stock clutches.
