doom - cool beans

hoops - even cooler beans. good luck. so what you have an mr2? pretty slick...supra too? and a celica? shit.

well if you just have a mr2 and a celica that's cool to. i like mr2s a lot. i want to DRIVE ONE!!!

but if you get a nice engine i bet you'll have a fun time with the all-trac. 4wd baby!!

make sure it's cost effective. they are rare but if you can find one that's running you might be better off.

then again you may be able to compare prices, talk the guy down, and repair the engine completely/get a new one and you'll be set....or build it up to a little beasty sleeper...

sadly im supra-less, mine had electrical problems to large for me to afford to fix(at least back then). and i really want the celica because snow+lowered mr2= death.

yeah ive ended up facing the wrong way in the mr2 a buncha times. it sticks to the road but once it starts to go sideways its hard to stop the momentum and not endup facing the wrong way.

Take a breaker bar and see if you can turn the engine over...

I still say batt/alt though.

I would think it would lock up if it actually siezed, something neat would have happened.

it could be anything from a fuse to a timing belt skipping to seized. either way it aint cheap to fix 2000 is WAY to much for a car with a crapped out engine. plus the body doesnt look all that good the bumper in the front is all messed up.

i agree that 2k is on the high side. doesnt matter if the car is rare you'll pay a lot to fix it and a good paint job will shorten your spending at least a grand for a halfway decent one. unless you do a good flat black spraycan job or something... which with the proper execution wouldnt be bad i suppose but IMO it might look like SHIT on this car.... i've seen it executed in a magazine well (brand new subaru with BEAUTIFUL pain in sport compact...they sanded the factory new paint and did a SPRAY CAN job! i was amused and pissed all at once!!)

but seriously look for all the problems you can find, get quotes for repairs and parts costs + labor, then if you still want it, talk him down with said quotes and do the work yourself. then you'll emerge with a decent to awesome car outright and hopefully spending cash for motor and drivetrain upgrades.

i dont know about the reliability of the drivetrain, but given the full time 4wd i would look into parts replacements and common failures.

I was looking into a Alfa Romeo GTV6 but the fact it uses a weird center driveshaft with rubberized joints to go to the rear-mounted transmission, i steered clear since those are prone to needing replacement, difficult to replace on some years, and a bit pricey. plus they aren't SUPER attractive. but they are cool looking and have 1:1 weight distribution :D :D

but anyway... just make sure you dont dive into a potential money pit and look for signs of thrashing.... no point in dropping 2k on a shell if it's already worn out.

it's just a bumper...

I've NEVER seen one of these on the road, they're quite rare hence the higher price...

not worth the price they are asking, i say offer $1,000 or if you *really* want it $1,500 2,000 is wayy to much for a car with a fucked up body and an engine that doesnt run. ive seen lexus' in better shape for cheaper

but it won't do anything. car will crank even if you try and run it air...so it SHOULD be turning over.

what is a person supposed to do when they sell a car hella cheap and it just needed gas?? i would cry in a corner and bash my head against a wall.

Some guy on another forum saw an ad for a motorcycle claming the motor was seized so they were asking like 400 bucks or something. The guy goes and looks at it, the bike is in great shape. He brought a battery with him and after buying it jumped it with the other bat. The bike fired right up, the seller was trying to say the deal was off lol.

He rode away with a bike worth 4grand easy.

yeeeep, seen it happen so many damn times...

I know people that make big money doing it, but they learned to tow the car away and then get it started so as not to piss of the seller...

Im pretty happy with my fourth gen, no its not alltrac but Im droppin in a 3sgte into it and calling it a day (FWD though)

Celicas all around are awesome cars IMO, either as a daily, rally or anything else, they seem to be able to do most any application Ive wanted a car for. The one I have now is a beater but when I get some cash together Im gonna start fixing the problem spots with the body, toss in the motor and be nice to her.
