the only thing i can think of that would cause the engine to slow to a halt and then not even attempt to start would be it siezed up...that means the parts heated up and fused together right? or something else....
do the pistons melt onto the cylinders or what?
so yeah...if you have an engine laying around that's good...and this car is otherwise mechanically sound and you can swap the engines...i think its a good deal.
you could probably take a wrench/breaker bar and attempt to turn over the engine by hand or at least budge it a little but until i know the exact meaning of siezed up i'm not sure.
still dont know what else it could be.... unless the turbo caused enough exaust blockage to keep the engine from turning over but i'd think there would be at least some leakage to allow one crank...or an attempt at cranking. can you get to the car for further diagnosis? maybe its another problem...and its not even powering the starter... if the ECU took a shit and/or the electronics when poo...that would constitue no fuel, and no starter power....
Alltracs, known as the GT-FOUR to the rest of the world, were Toyota's answer to Rally competitions. AWD+3S-GTE engine=Win. It's a bit heavy though - 3200+lbs, getting up there towards MkIII weight. I seriously want one, and have for awhile.
Thats seized. No way anything could block exhaust enough to not let motor turn over... even a sealed exhaust.
Pistons could of melted into the cylinder... or something could of broken and chewed everything up. I have had some experience with both things happening.
They cost a lot to get repaired at a dealership. Even just a new clutch is like a 12 hour job, you have to pull the engine and everything. 3SGTE is a kickass motor. BTW, same engine that's in the MR2 Turbo
