Ever since Ive owned the supra, its had this solenoid in between the vacuum line that goes to the fuel pressure regulator and its vacuum source. This solenoid is located under the intake manifold beside the EGR solenoid. The wires on for the solenoid plug are pulled out and one of the nipples on the solenoid itself is broken off.

What the heck is this thing for and is it really that important to have?

Post a WTB thead and replace it.....

Toyota went to a LOT of trouble to ensure these cars will run/start under all kinds of conditions this is one of those parts, it helps flush any boiled fuel in the rail through on hot starts/cranking.

A LOT of members strip ALL of these features out because they don't understand them and think they somehow inhibit power and then complian when they have trouble down the track ....:nono:

A Mk3 is a "system" if you delete certain parts while it will still "run" it loses a little of what makes it "nice", if you understand the system and can accept any of the shortcomings a delete will cause by all means go ahead, myself I like having a car that works under and and all conditions so go to the effort to replicate what Toyota have done.

Yep and can be a bitch to start when heatsoaked even with the valve working..

I have my car set up to run both pumps at 100% while cranking to flush the hot fuel through, it helps.

I believe there should be a little filter on the end of it. This may be why you had trouble in the past on hot starts.

BTW....I think I may have 1-3 of these laying on a shelf in my shed...just waiting for $3 and shipping to be thrown at it.

Would you happen to have the connector that plugs into the solenoid too? The connector itself is missing from my harness and is just two taped up wires.
