im not 100% on this, but i think the 4.11 torsen only came with the 2.5GT setup (1j) maybe whoever told em doesnt know any better. if its 7m 89 its most likely the 3.73

thats what i thought aswell, but he said that he called the toyota dealer and gave him the vin and it came up as a 4.11 hummmm

The VIN can not state the axle directly. MA70 in the VIN designates 4.30. In his 89 MA71 came with 3.73. The axle code is in the engine compartment on the firewall right in front of the driver. That is the only place that specifically lists what axle came in the car.
If it has a 4.11:1, somebody put it in there. It did not come from the factory. And it is not listed in the VIN as such.
