Whats the best year MkIII Supra to buy?

Is there such a thing? I'm still trying to find one, but I'm not having any luck.. I like the body style of the 89-up, but what else was done through the years (Exterior/Interior)? Does the 89+ only have a different bumper? Is there anything different about the interior on other years... Would it be better to buy an older on and convert a newer bumper on?

i would say the 92's posibly less wear and tear on them. As far as features go it would have the most. lots of speakers and the shadow gray interior if you can find one.

Allot of it is prefrence and also what you want to do with the car. if you want a Daily driver, Project or weekend warrior car.

for instance if your looking for a good project you might want to find one with a non functioning engine. you will get it for cheap, or one with allot of miles. Keep in mind both of those will take allot of work and time to get them into running condition where you can blast down the freeway.

DD i would say go with a more recent model with low miles posibly less for you to do.

i say 89 ftw!, simply b/c the 3 spoke steering wheel kicks ass, and i don't like the color coded trim, but then again my car came w/ 91-92 wheels when i got it...

get a 90+, all the looks with more features, the 89 had some crossover parts so they have older style things on them mixed with newer 90+ peices, plus many will agree the pre pre 89 style bumpers and tailights are fugly. <- gonna get abbused for that one but its true.

I would say 1991 because it doesn't draw the premium price the 92's do (isn't as rare), has 6.5 in speakers in the front, and the 5-spoke wheels. I'd rather own a 1992, but I think it'd be harder to find for a good price and I'd be afraid of putting too many miles on a collector car.

I agree with 89jdm7m, the 89 steering wheel is the best. It just doesn't have an airbag... That might push up insurance a bit. Now if you could put the 1998 steering wheel on a 1992...

i've had the choice between an 89N/A 87T and my 92T and when looked at side by side the 92 is by far the nicer car. it's just nicer all around but that is definetly just my own option go with what you like man

I recomend you try to stay away from the older cars, from experience some of the nastiest mk3's I have worked on have been pre89, years of oil leaks and neglect mean no fun to work on you spend most of your time fixing hack jobs
