whats the best way to remove chrome anodizing on a intake pipe?

without sanding is it possible.i dont think so cause i think ano is actual metal?is there anything at the parts store that will remove the chrome ano?

Sure, you could acid etch it off. Aluminum anodizing is actually part of the metal that has been chemically hardened, so it's not easy.

Do you really want to get rid of it, or are you just looking to get rid of / change the color?

use lye (red devil or similar) and put your piece in it, it'll strip off a thin layer of aluminum and the color with it leaving you a matte finish you can re-anodize. i'd polish it up after stripping cause i like the shiny.

EDIT: like adam said, if it's chrome it's a different story

its chrome but after some polishing it looks nickel underneath then aluminum. i already got to the aluminum but i have a huge beltsander and its hard to get to all the little spots that are left . im only taking it off cause i got it for free and the chrome was peeling all over the place.

the chrome was peeling really bad so i want to have that polished aluminum look now

yep, that layer of nickel is there to permit adhesion of the chrome layer. All you can really do now is keep sanding, there really isn't any practical (safe) chemical that will remove the chrome.

thanks for all the help everyone but my dad ended up finishing up all the hard spots .he was a carpenter for 25 years.so its all done up rough.it looks auiite in the hood but it looks redicoulous in the sun it sparkles every where cause of all the deep cuts .im gona keep it rough i got sick of sanding after the rims and valve covers
