What's my boost safety/danger zone?

When would one be able to hear this 'rattle'?

I'm assuming at WOT or under load; but, I hear a rattle for about a minute when I start my car in the morning. The sound sounds like it is coming from the timing cover. Could be something entirely different... :dunno:

Ok. So here's what I'm considering. I could pull the head and replace the headgasket with an OEM that I've got sitting on my bench along with a set of ARP Head Studs. While I'm there do the timing belt and so on... I have a walbro 255 in the box that I need to install also. I've got a 57 trim in route.

Will the walbro and 57 trim give me any headroom to run more boost without a lexus afm, 550 injectors, or maft-pro?

Is there a formula or way (aside from dyno) to know when I'm in the danger zone of detonation in relation to increased boost?

Basically, no, there is no formula that will tell you whether you are in the danger zone or not. You really need a dyno and a set of electric ears.

The fuel pump isn't likely to help, and without the larger injectors you're going to run into fuel cut *hard* with a 57trim.

well im starting a rebuild on my 7mgte and im going for a new turbo whats a good size trim and whats the most boost i can run im not doing forge just stock build with some upgrades like mhg,arpstuds but im tryin to get a ball park range on how much boost i can run:evil2::evil2:

This isn't the right way to look at it. Boost is relative to the rest of the parts in your system.

How about defining what you want power- or driveability-wise? Do you want something that drives well in traffic? Something that smokes tires off the line? Something that puts down huge numbers on a dyno? Something to race?
