What's classified as a BPU mod and an APU mod?

I've been wondering lately just what mods are considered BPU mods and what are considered APU mods?

Tough call... and I suspect this is going to be mostly a matter of opinion.

Intake, exhaust, boost controller, fuel pump, 550cc injectors, and something to modify the AFM signal = BPU in my book.

Everything beyond that is, well, beyond.

I have always heard BPU is intake, exhaust + boost controller.
Never heard of APU.

APU is removing the stock turbo for something else (other than an upgraded stocker).

IMO BPU is anything bolt on. APU is anything you have to open up the engine for or change it drastically to accommodate.

but yea its just opinion.

Mostly used by MKIV guys, rarely by MKIII guys. Typically APU has an aftermarket turbo and everything else needed to support it.

I think of it this way:

BPU: Basic Performance Upgrade

like intake, exhaust, throttle body, intercooler, etc.

APU: Advanced Performance Upgrade
turbo, standalone, ITBs, etc. Things that require other parts to get it done

LOL - BPU = bolt ons, imho. APU = internal work of some nature

even internals...
