Can anybody tell me what model/year was the first MA70 widebody?

Can someone also confirm wether it is possible to have a factory widebody Janaury 1986 N/A auto MA70?

...Basically theres this guy with the above car that swears its a widebody. its hard to tell because the front gaurds are wide but i just think they have been swapped over. The rear gaurds look like they have been rolled but still narrow.

Need to end this argument.

Cheers.

they were available in north america in 1986.5... last time i checked, his question wasn't specific to australia. not sure about australia though. more than likely they were available as an option, since you guys over there got everything, and we always get the short end.

Surely the build plate somehow denotes weather it is a widebody or not...

Ive seen this "widebody" question b4. Unless someone posts some pics of the wide and the narrow, I dont believe they made these. All mk3's to me are widebody. The mk2's are the narrow I think, but these are different altogether.

You betcha.

The MA70- on both plates means that car was a widebody from the factory. On a narrowbody Supra, the first letter would be "G".

Grim, I just want to point out that you are wrong. :)

In fact, not all GA70's are narrowbody. Widebody became optional on later years.

For Japan:

No 86 MK3's were widebody in Japan.

No 87-88 GA70's were widebody in Japan.

Starting in mid-87 (1/87) the MA70 GT Limited was introduced, it was widebody, all other MA70's were still narrowbody.

Starting in 89, all MA70's were widebody, and the GA70 had the widebody option (not sure which model(s) had it).

After 1990, the MA70 was dropped and the JZA70 was introduced, which was only available as widebody.

The GA70 is listed as narrowbody optional until the A70 ceased production in 1993.

As far as Australia goes, there were never any Aus-delivered narrowbody cars, there may be Japan-imported ones maybe?

North America, Europe, and Australia never got narrowbody cars, Japan, New Zealand (and probably some other Asian countries) did.
