What will cause a code 34?

I shimmed my wastegate with 2 washers for each bolt. It has a divorced down pipe so it is reaching 10-11psi. The boost guage reads about 7 psi under full throttle then a hard bump almost a stutter then it jumps up to 10-11psi.

I checked for codes and got a code 34.

Will the shimming cause a code 34?
If not then what?

Without a doubt code 34 would come up from shimming the wastegate.

i have shimmed a wastegate in my old supra and i never got that code. so i'm confused on why shimming would cause it if i never got it. so i don't see how he would get that code from shimming.

Thats the confusing part. Maybe his AFM is going bad..? Boost leak?

Try resetting the ECU by pulling the EFI fuse out for 1 minute, its located in the fuse block behind the battery.

So what would cause the hard stutter?

I'll take a video camera on a ride tonight then post it up on youtube so it would be easier to actually diagnose whats going on. Provided I can figure out how to post on Youtube.

the studder you felt was probably fuel cut, which led to the code34. You probably need to take a little of your shim out.

If its a boost leak wouldn't it get progressively rough once it started to get rough to begin with and why would the boost guage(stocker) show higher boost just after it stutters.

Also the car runs rough at about 800-1000rpm until I give it some gas.

Thats a good question, I guess I didnt read the op very well. If its a boost leak its acting pretty odd for one, but nothing else comes to mind. Get that vid posted, it might help.

I grounded the coilpacks in a different location today as well if that has anything to do with it.
it doesnt, that ground doesnt ground the coils themsleves, its a field ground and its not critical.

If its fuel cut why would it do it at 7psi or so and then jump to 10 or 11psi?

The wastegate is mechanical, and hitting fuel cut doesn't not necessarily affect boost. An engine miss should slow it down, but with your wastegate shimmed, it might stay shut longer, just as it is.

Pulling the EFI fuse does not fix broken cars.

Alright. Pulled EFI fuse let it sit for a minute or so put it back in, then went for a ride. Just boost cut @ 11psi(normal for an auto, I guess). No codes at all.

Did annoy the hell out of me from a stop though. But just boost cut none the less. I will remove both washers tomorrow and just be content until I get some sort of piggyback and boost controller later this summer.

There is no turbocharger pressure sensor or circuit, MAP sensor, wastegate VSV or circuit on a 7M-GTE ;)

Code 34 trouble areas:
