supraman7mgte,
I like your motor set-up. Everything is so neat and clean just like factory. How do you get past smog with the hard pipes and the bov?

i see that you've got an opinion. but could you give some real-world examples/reasons why you don't approve? Supraman atleast admits that it was unnoticable in performance, but i'm more interested in mpg info, especially when the maft-pro is added to the mix.

Edit: apology for thread jack, i would also like to upgrade my ignition if its worth it

Dave: I was running 2 x Dis-4 CDI's with MSD CDI Coils.

I had one box fail within 4000 KM's but suspect it may have contributed to an engine meltdown on the dyno.

Nash: The stock system if in good condition should be fine for most 7M users,

"good condition" is the operative term here most aren't.

so has any one els run tiwn power on turbo car or msd with stock computer

Yeah, the HKS DLI is reliable and definitely helps out. It isn't as powerful as some of the twin cap CDI systems though like Autronic, M&W and AEM (the AEM is soon to be available again, hopefully more reliable this time). BTW, you will not see much, if any gain from an ignition upgrade unless you are blowing out spark and losing power currently.

I had to upgrade the ignition on mine when I started blowing the spark out at 29 psi on my SP67. I tried colder plugs and new wires, plus different coil packs and even an ignitor just to make sure I had a good ignition system. I run NGK wires on the car and have no problems at all with them. I went with the HKS DLI. I noticed a difference with off boost responsiveness on my car as well as not blowing plugs out anymore under boost. HTH

I know it is too late now, but I am running DIS-4s on my supra and truck. Getting them to work properly was difficult, I had many issues, but after a month I got them sorted out. The culprit was the stock coils could not handle the voltage output of the MSD. They were arcing off everything under the hood! I had a good ground and I tried 3 different coil packs, one very low mileage which held 26psi just fine. Difficult to see the arcing unless you like standing outside your car in pitch black with your hood open and car running. So my parts list was the DIS-4 $400, two tach adapters $100, and 3 MSD GM style coils $120, GM terminal ends to install on my NGK wires $10. Its actually really simple to install once you know what's up and the MSD coils are better than the stock one's and cheaper than new Toyota coils.

I would have went the DLI route for price, but I needed the 2-step and timing functions of the MSD for what I do. My whole reasoning in getting the MSD was for those features, spark benefits were icing on the cake in my case. Both units work great so far, haven't been to the track with them yet though. Soon as the weather warms up! :)
