What type of aftermarket knock detection do you use?

I was looking into the J&S safeguard but i heard the guy who owns it is not answering/responding anymore.

It does similar to the motec (even tho motec probably being 100x better) as it senses knock in each individual cylinder and retards/advance the timing depending on the knock.

oh well :[

*edit*
I found someone who is selling a J&S Safeguard but now im wondering which one would i need for it to work on a 1jz??

the one/two channel version or the 3/4/5 channel version?

I was planning on getting the new HKS Knock Amp, has an AFR gauge and knock detection all in one warm and fuzzy little package. Having the outputs which trigger when knock is detected I was planning on interfacing it to my MOTEC, and using the factory check engine light on the dash to indicate when knock is detected, I was currently using it as a shift light.

Have any of you guys used this?

It says it can reduce your timing once detonation is noticed. How would it do this on a standalone? Does anyone know. I know where one is for sale and I want to buy it, but I'm curious as to how this works. Thanks.

I have an Integral knock meter in my NA, and an HKS knock monitor set away for my turbo build.
The HKS one isn't sold by HKS-USA, since it does not meet FCC regulations.
What is unique about it is that it has it's own sensor that you install in the engine bay.
You can set an alarm point where it will give a visual, and audio alarm.
It has an ear piece jack, so you can plug in headphones.
You can switch between just knock detection, to actual engine bay sound.
And.......
It will transmit over any nearby FM radio set at something like 88.5 (the reason the FCC doesn't like them).
If you want one, you need to get it from someone who imports parts directly from Japan.

I'm really interested in the js but I want to know how they work. I'm not sure if they're universal or not. It seems like they would be but I don't know. Thanks for the info George.
