What to look for buying a Mk3...

1. Check wallet. Is it full? Good, it won't be for long. ;)

2. Check your patience level. Are you patient? If not, move on and buy a different car.

3. Check how disciplined you are. Supras require discipline, money, and patience. If you don't have all three of those, you're in for a rough time with these cars.

So rare, in fact, that it does not exist... Ads with obvious bullshit are a red flag - move on.

Yes it does. Leave a supra running long enough, and it'll overheat and shut off on its own..:D

We may razz a bit, but no one wants to see a fellow enthusiast get screwed over.

Exactly. I spent WAY too much on my car, so I know from experience, that if you wait long enough and keep your cash saved up, the right one will find you sooner or later. Trust me on that one. Check out Gurley0916 (or whatever his name is on here, I always forget), he has a beautiful teal 92. Had I been patient, that car would be mine, but instead I jumped on the first fun looking one I found. Rather than a pristine teal 92, I ended up with a busted up 89, that admittedly, had some cool parts, but... for another $1000 and about a month's wait, I could have had an AWESOME car.

Still kicking myself, but I swing my leg a little less each time...

The biggest thing is that i am now without a vehicle. I sold my truck to buy a car. I have $3K on my nightstand waiting.

I dont want to jump on any car. But i need one i can drive while i fix it up and hop it up.

Ouch... Allow me to impart another bit of personal wisdom/experience here then:

Only a fool trusts his means of transportation to a single Supra. Ideally, when owning a Mk3, you will own another vehicle that also runs. JUST... IN... CASE.

If you have a $3000 budget, I would HIGHLY suggest something a little more reliable than a 20+ year old flagship sports car that has likely been neglected and in dire need of some maintenance. For $3000, I would be looking at a Miata, if I HAD to have a sports car. The looks are the hardest part to get over, but if you can manage that, you can't have more fun for less money, ask anybody on here who has ever had one or even driven one. ;)

If the Supra breaks i have more means of transportation. My family owns a shop so i can ride with my stepdad and my girl carts me around every now and then anyway LOL

MK4's have always been a dream car, and i origianally set out to buy a 240sx instead, and then i remembered the old boxy love of an MK3 and decided thats what i want.

You can’t always rely on others to cart you around, for one it’s not fair to them and two when owning a supra it is a must to have another means of transportation. But where only giving you advice it’s your choice if you choose to follow it but most of us have played this game for 5, 7 and 10+ years.

I only have the Supra as my form of transport, and I drive frequently. You could say I like to live on the edge. :naughty:

I did this too for almost 4 years but let me tell you my city has a great bus system and i know it well.

Also i've had 2 jobs for the last 5years and i do dump a lot of money in my car (doing the work on my own) just to keep it going.

They have volunteered to cart me around. My girl wants me to get a bike then she will cart me around a lot more, id rather not have to though.

Im heading to the auto auction soon to try to pick up a lexus.
