Don't know if anyone else has had this problem, or maybe I just didn't search it the right way but here goes. I have an 89 turbo with tokiko illumina2 struts rs*r springs and st swaybars. That said I have a strange vibration in the rear I can't seem to identify. It happens at lower rpms and in turns but lately it has been getting more noticeable. So I checked and replaced the lsd fluid but, nope not it. Then I inspect all the bushings and bolts and subframe bolts....nope. Then I try to move the driveshaft......It moves up and down and around about 1/3 or 1/2 inch effortlessly.....center berring looks like dry-rotted crap....needless to say not good right. So I call toyota to order the part. They say they can get it but it will be 3 weeks and $300!!!! I tried all the parts stores in Memfrica but, to no avail. So should I do some more shopping, get raped by Toyota, or get 1pc and wait on my intercooler upgrade?

Call Jeff Watson at Champion Toyota in Houston off the Gulf freeway.

He is a fellow Supra lover. I think mine was about 169.00 roughly.

Mention you are on Supramania and you will get some sort of club discount, but when you call, ask to speak with him directly.

I tried the center bearing from O'Riellys, and it was completely wrong. Thought it was boxed wrong, had them order another, same thing. I wound up going with the 1-piece(steel) from driveshaft shop. The only problem I see with the DSS driveshaft is that it could be about a 1/2" or so longer so that it goes a little further into the trans.
There's a couple of really good threads about them, one of which where IJ goes over the cons of the 1-piece vs. the stock set-up.

Thanks! I just hope It's the driveshaft only and not the lsd taking a crap. But if it was the lsd there would have been metal in the old fluid right? ore a whining noise something of that nature? Never had to replace one and would rather not...

Actually, i still have a vibration in my car even after replacing the d.s. I'm gonna try replacing the c.v. axles next, as I've had similar symptoms in fwd cars, and that wound up being the problem.

When I replaced that bearing on my last supra I didnt even pay 50 bucks for the damn thing. Some place in Riverside, CA. I dont recall off the top of my head right now where I got it. Ill do some research and get back to ya. The only catch is you gotta modify it a lil bit by drillin out a few spot welds in order to remove a bracket piece on it.

It got rid of the vibration I was experiencing completely. I had actually acclimated myself to the vibration over time so when it was fixed my car felt like a friggin luxury car.

Be back soon wit da source.

just wondering if you have had a chance to order that part? Im wondering how much it was now because I may need to do mine sooner than I though on my most recent MKIII. From what I remember The guy there that I spoke to was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when I bought it. He even told me about the drilling of the spot welds that are holding its current bracket in place so it can be removed and the one off your current drive shaft can secure the bearing.

It was 105.00 plus 10.00 to ship. Unfortunatly the bearing wasn't my only ds problem, it seems my uni joints are all toast and it will need to be rebalanced as well. Nobody around here will do that....so now I'm probably going to do a jawsgear or supra sport driveshaft.

Did you give Memphis Truck a call? They are located over off on Brooks Rd and have the machiines to build a driveshaft. If you need to know more get a hold of me.
