Gunna keep it short here.

Whats an overview of what you would do to get more power out of a stock N/A.. Say, if you had a freshly rebuilt one sitting in your driveway, what would you do to it?

oh, and please nobody say NA-T.. or swap for a turbo.... anything other than turbo'n it.

hmm, so I need to get my valves shimmed soon (valve noise....) so would it be a good idea to upgrade the cam and replace the valves with lighter ones and use stiffer springs if that's all I'm doing in addition to higher flowing intake and exhaust and headers...

I'm kinda thinkin about stuff I could do without having to tear the motor apart to do it...

What about tuning for the N/A, what kind of options do we have?

Thanks a lot toyohabu, greatly appreciated!

Trust me I have thought about it long and hard. If you want more power you know what you need to do. Why waste money when you could invest it into the turbo option which will make you happy in the long run? Plus it increases the value of your car when it comes time to sell. Just my opinion though.

For a long long time i was stuck on my n/a. Anyone who i asked for help wit hpower would simply say "go na-t".

I hated it.

But in all honesty, going na-t is the best bang for your buck, and the upgrades simply poor in from there.

you can only do so much to the na for power.
polishing and porting the head, bigger throttle body, bigger valves, different cams.adjustable cam sprrrrocketz, hotter ignition, and the list goes on...

And the moment after you finish doing all that, youll say damn....should have went turbo.....

Theres only a limited amount of things to do for NA power....

Well he never mentioned a budget goal, and he said no turbo, so if he wants power out of a n/a, price shouldnt be a factor, but if price is gt35r na-t ftw!!!:naughty:

And right after that we get load's of question.....

"my car is not running right, why?"

Man do I hate reading these damn "how do I make more power with my N/A"? threads it will eventually turn into a "you need a turbo thread" even if you specify that you do not want a turbo. I have posted the same question you have and have gotten the same responses you have just gotten. http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16000 Here is a link to my plan of action to make more power while staying N/A. Hopefully it will give you a few ideas and keep you on the N/A path. For some reason there is something cool about N/A power to me, of course one day I want to make a turbo beast, but for right now I want to make a decent daily drive/occassional road course threat that I can drive after the turbo blows another damn head gasket.

Us N/A's have our own problems of our own.....

ya I was just throwin this thread out there, I knew I would get a bunch of people saying go NA-T.. or swap for a gte, but I also knew a lot of you want to keep na (total sleeper... nobody expects a "pff non-turbo" to go fast)... anyways, I also kinda wanted to see what my future options would be if I did want to get a little more power out of my NA... I know getting it to even the 300-350hp mark will require a lot of money and work, but if I could maybe say get around 250 with a few things that dont break the bank, then why not for your daily driver?

IN the end I will probably either do an NA-T conversion, or swap for a gte, or maybe even sell my current car and buy a turbo targa 91-92 down the road...

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Just put headers, exhaust, Intake, Advance Timing, Flexalite Fans, Test pipe or High Flow Cat, Underdrive pulley and an aftermarket Ignition system and call it good. This might put you at 220-225 RWHP which is very respectable. The best part is you can do it in increments. Last night I just put in a 2.5" Test pipe and there was a good increase in top end power. I have flexalite fans coming in any day now and When I finally do my front main seal I will put an underdrive pulley in. Also if you end up going NA-T the only thing you can't use is the headers and you can always sell them here.

ya that's the kind of response I was hoping for... Just some minor stuff that will get me a bit more power out of my N/A, that I can do in stages, but will still leave me options open for a turbo swap, or turbo upgrade.
