Ok heres the deal, I currently have my supra up on jack stands since the day I took it off the hands of its previous owner and im running out of storage space for this car since its not running....basicly the short story is I drove it home, and took it on a couple of drives around the block when it developed a overheating & Tapping/knocking sound that I still can't figure if its rodknock or just something loose in the engine, it basicly sounds like taking a quarter and tapping it on a wooden surface rapidly and it only starts at about 1,500rpm and skips a bit a little after.
After that I spent about a week f**king with stuff trying to figure out what was going on even though I knew in the back of my head it was time for a New Headgasket and possibly bearings. Anyways im kind of short on funds and I dont wanna go tearing into the bottom-end until I can save up the funds to get exactly how I want it built(Forged), so my question is should I just get a MHG kit with all the other gaskets & ARP headstuds until I can build up the bottom-end?
Also if your wondering I'll be going the HG work myself, im pretty new to Supras(my first one) but I've owned 3 modded mustangs that I worked on myself so im pretty confident when it comes to these things.
Note - Im NOT sure if I have rod knock, a shop told me it has low compression in 2 cyls(headgasket prob), and the noise was probably valvetrain....
