LMAO Guys! :)

I try NOT to let a fresh motor idle for extended periods and the only issue I have with the drive it hard to bed the rings school of thought is most times a fresh 7M build WILL have other issues that need sorting before you can lean on it!

IE: Leaks or Tuning that needs to be done just to get it to run enough to actually drive.

I start with short runs around where I live just in case something does fall off at least I'm close to home and tools, then I venture out further each drive.(after the first 100km/60miles I dump the Oil filter and replace it and do a retorque on the head)

I don't run the car at a constant speed by this I mean I'll drive at the highway speed limit but swap from 4th to 5th to raise/lower the RPM.
(after the first 1000km/600miles I replace the Oil and Filter)

By this time the Motor is as run in as it's ever going to be and is actually running out so if everything checks out I start to lean on it more each drive constantly keeping an eye and ear open for anything not right.

It takes me a month or so before I'm comfortable enough to do rev limiter runs at high boost.

i think i read somewhere on here that you need to drive it fairly hard for that time to force the rings to seat properly before the they wear the hone off the cylinder then they wont ever seat right... this may be wrong but i vaguely remember something like this...

i think the idea of running a new engine hard comes from here http://mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

even if you dont buy into his ideas, its an interesting read.
