For mine I repaired it with epoxy, but I hit it again some time after the repair walking by the car and now it is loose again. :-(
Maybe I will have to take a look at the inside part of mirror some time. I know I have tried tightening the bolts on the inside of the door and the screw underneath but that didn't do anything.

My shifter was AWFUL before the new bushings. It just depends how yours are now. If you have any noticeable slop it will completely go away with the mc bushings. Good stuff.
Sent from my Moto X.
I have a W58 manual and I have noticed that the shifter is alot tighter when it is in neutral and you push it towards the right towards 5th or Reverse, and not as springy or tight when it is pushed towards the left when you are going for 1st or so. I had the clutch replaced and they claimed to have replaced the shifter bushing too 3 years/20k miles ago when I got the car it has always been like that. Is it normal for it to do this?

It's impossible to fix the internal mounts. My passenger side mirror was like that. They get really brittle over time and a slight bump would break all the internal mounting points, leaving a mounted saggy mirror...
Ugh. I guess these are the kinds of issues we are going to need to deal with seeing as how these cars are almost 30 years old at this point.
