I would just use Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W-90. The best race cars in the world use it, and its super easy to find.

how can you even say that? do you physically watch them put it in? im sick of hearing supposedly a certain manufactuer/team uses a certain oil, filter, gas.... ect. just research on the forums, and you'll see what people think...

Royal Purple has been hit and miss, some people said it ruined their transmissions because we have brass synchros. I personally run MT-90
MTL is different, you want MT-90. and i've also used the 85w-90NS (no limited slip additive) that worked well in my W58. but i like the MT-90 in my R154 right now.

Redline MT-90 is what most R154 owners typically use and recommend.

I have it in my trans, does the job.

Red Line MT90

Mobil 1 isn't a true synthetic and overpriced (might as well put normal oil in)
Royal Purple Syncromesh is too thin.
Royal Purple Max Gear has friction modifiers which don't allow the syncros to work.

I've tried conventional oil, both Royal Purple oils, and the MT90... use the MT90 or I'll personally come to your house and beat you senseless :sarcasm:

Not trying to hi-jack the thread but where do you guys get your Red Line MT-90 from? The only place I know is Jegs.

There's a local store in Houston called ProAm (link) that has Redline fluids. The MT-90 was either $12.99/qt or $11.99/qt, but it's something around there.

I can say that because I AM "them". I don't watch "them" put it in, I'm the one putting it in, and I can tell you that's what is used, tough guy.

Redline is up to the job as well, use the mt-90 if you like, supposedly it helps if your R154 doesn't shift well. For me, it's too much effort to get the stuff for no real gain.

^Synchromax? That's for transmissions requiring ATF... no wonder it didn't work in something made for using gear oil.

QFT

One thing to add...Mobil 1 gear oil also contains friction modifiers. Same effect as RP Max Gear. You can use either in your LSD, but I wouldn't in a R154 or W58.

0 for 3. Sports cars (Endurance racing, if you prefer). Come on now, how many WRC teams do you know based in FL? ;)

Like I said, FOR ME it's not easy to get at all, Mobil 1 is, I've seen how well it holds up so I use it.

I said something you've never seen or heard of??? Huh?

Too much effort for no gain? It will give you smoother shifts regardless. Your transmission doesn't have to be grinding to be able to benefit from Redline MT-90.
