What is this part?

This is not my engine but I found a clear shot of the part that I am looking for. The area where the blue hose goes over is plastic and it broke off. I am trying to replace the part. I was told it is a VSV and could bypass it? I rather just get the part.

That's the heater control valve. I think I've seen a couple floating around the for sale section.

to my knowledge the part you describe controls the flow of coolant to your heatercore, and the vsv is on the other side of the engine bay and looks identical to the air control valves that are found on the valve cover of a 22re. It is possible to bypass that doohicky lol, but i personally would not do it, stay as factory as possible and the car will be good to you.

I agree with the whole staying factory deal. Some guys on SF said this part works the same as that one

you can delete it completely, I found a hose at the parts store that fit. or, if you want to replace it, jetjock posted which car has a similar one, I think you have to remove a bracket or something. just do a search for jetjocks post.
