What is the valve cover coating?

Thinking about stripping them down to be powder-coated or high-temp paint, but was also wondering if they'd look any good just stripped and polished (if the base metal will take a polish).

The valve covers are cast aluminum...you can polish or paint. Been done many times...I chrome ceramic coated mine. Got another set sitting right here

if you can powder coat i would, its a tought coating, far superior to paint. you can get them to look polished with powder coat also, not to mention all of the different colors powder coat has, and the 'vein' style powder coat looks really good.

The problem with powder coat is the heat...I've seen powder coating dull and even change color shade...it's going to depend on the material used and the skill of the person applying it. Heat resistant paint is about as good, if you do it right. A polish with clear anodizing doesn't fade...neither does ceramic.

or you could do the candy color powdercoating and it would look something like this.... excuse all of my finger prints on them though lol
