I don't know the weight nor a good brand. Up to knowledge my tranny has never been serviced. Gears feel dry, and can be heard at idle. Could I put Lucas gear oil and something else?

The best way, albeit more complicated way is to fill it from the filler hole with a siphon pump from the bottle, until it starts to run out of the hole...as the book says. BTW, when I changed mine I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90. Felt pretty good afterward, but shortly after my motor chooched, so....*shrug*

if you dont however have a lift, then yes it is a little nicer to work inside the car as opposed to on the ground.
also take notice, your repair manual gives two acceptable gear oils however only the w58 takes either or.
the r154 takes 75w-90 only.

Mobil 1 is overpriced and contains friction modifiers IIRC, I don't recommend it. If shifting feels like crap, you NEED the MT-90...
