i have been looking for a 2jz for a couple days. i found a cheap front clip from driftmotion for 2800 plus whatever the shipping is.

i also have another site called nippon motors that charges 1950 for the supra engine, not aristo:icon_bigg . they will also ship it to me for free since i live in san diego and they are in l.a.

my question is would it be better to get the front clip or is just the engine enough to do the swap (not including the other misc stuff i need

I have bought a340 tranny from nippon before around ~60 in my experiance they were crap and so much work to change that the warrenty would expire anyways.

You should check many places but if your 2JZGTE is complete with uncut harness ecu ignitor sensors i would just get the engine if its a good price.

if its a cute harness missing parts i wouldnt consider it unless you feel like paying and hunting the parts down.

I would try to get a 1JZGTE JZA70 clip if this is your first swap and get the whole clip to make the swap simple but since the 2JZ never came in our MKIII bodys it doesnt really mater for clip but more for complete parts!

what is mainly the difference in the 1jz and the 2jz, is it just the amount in torque? i was only looking into nippon because it was a cheap engine with free shipping i didnt know they were crap. i will now look into the ijz clip driftmotin has... thanks for the advice

its how you set the upgrades. i've seen 1jz's torque match there hp's quite a few time. you definitely dont want to deal with sourcing parts out..time consuming..is the part going to work...etc..it'll add up quick

front clip..everythings there and you can ALWAYS sell the left overs and possibly make a few dollars here and there.

For swapping a 2jz in, a front clip isn't needed. 99% of the parts needed will have to bo sourced if you have a front clip over a complete engine set.

I bought my 1jz clip from www.driftmotion.com and I don't have one complaint. Make sure you buy from our Supramania vendors whenever possible.

The 2jz is .5 liters bigger, and it will give you more low end power and off boost power. The 1jz is a great motor though. I was able to make 543 rwhp on my 1jz at 24psi. Good luck.

You got that backwards,
The 1JZ head has bigger valves, when combined with the higher displacement from the 2JZ you get more power. and it is much cheaper than getting the 2JZ head ported...

More variety in turbo kits and cams would be my guess, but I have never seen it done.

Bigger exhaust valves, IIRC the intake valves are smaller by 1mm and the exhaust valves are bigger by 1mm.

The topic is still up for arguement and speculative just like scientist says the bumble bee cant fly defies physics yet it does:dunno:

I can actauly see less gain using the 2JZGTE head over the 1JZGTE head for the amount of work its like having a 2JZGTE with less displacment but since people might blow the bottom end out going lean or something 2JZGE /GTE bottom ends are easier to come buy so i could see why some one could add the displacment vs the head.

People build 1.5jz for /upgrades to bad parts not to go from the get go!

The only major + from the 2JZGTE head is the cams 264 instead of 252 but those parts could be interchanged with some mods.

ok so if i had a 2jz than it would be better to switch the top to a 1jz top... and if i had a 1jz than it is better to switch the cams for the 2jz cam.. by the looks of it and by all the parts you are able to interchange between the 2 engines they are like fraternal twins

Yea they are twins like danny devito & arnold.
The head & some parts are interchangable takes some work and mods. Yes in theory if you have all the 1JZ parts but the seller says the engine block is froze you could buy a 2JZGE or 2JZGTE block and plop the head on!
