That is factory actually. Most OG 87's and 86.5's have fuseable links in that spot. My 2 87's did and all 86's do

No doubt. The 7M adapter harness for my factory TCCS tester/simulator was so eye watering expensive from them I ended up having to make one on my own.

My 86.5 has that but it's in much better shape. No bare wires showing.
