redneck job, should be a fuse there. I think its a 40a, not sure though. Find a picture of the fuse box diagram.

No, that's not normal. If memory serves me correctly, you should have an EFI fuse there.

That is a fusible link... and the yes that is done pretty redneck... you can buy a new one from the dealer for 7 bucks... and it is a lot nicer than that.

Should be a fusible link, essencially just a wire with two female crimp connectors

It's for the alternator, 100A, but you should know that if you looked at your fuse box cover :biglaugh:

Fusible links are available as insulated wire or in sealed units (such as the two right below it). AFAIK, older MKIII's came with the wire version and newer MKIII's got the sealed version. They're cross compatible though, so if yer look'n fur purdy...

I believe the stock fusible link is black, and that they're color coded. I replaced mine with a standard sealed 100 amp fuse from A.Z. Just make sure the holes in the legs are the right size for the bolts that hold it in place.
