what head gasket do i need for my 1j

i just got my head back from my local machine shop, and it was cleaned and melted. And the guy who did this for me said that i can use a stock 2j hg. i already got one but freinds of mine advised me to get a metal hg.so my question is would the 2j stock hg work just fine or should i buy a aftermarket metal hg,and also my goal is to break into the 400-450 whp range.

The head gaskets are the same between 1j and 2j, so any aftermarket gasket will work. the jz are not known fro blowing HG, like the 7m. Stock should be fine, but if your going through the trouble of machining, why not upgrade?

I've been told the stock head gasket and head bolts are good out of the factory. The stock 2jz head gasket I believe is already multilayer steel. I would think you would be fine between 400-500whp range.

2JZ stock headgaskets are metal, and work quite well. There isn't much reason to get an aftermarket one if you already have the stock 2JZ one on hand.

use the stock. people push upwards of 20psi of boost with the stock which will be plenty to get you where you want.
