the funk! whats so hard about using a torque wrench and saving yourself from a nice tow bill and a new rim?

you might as well do some servicing to your bearings while your there

I second that motion, I took a wild ride in a 78 camaro once when the spindle broke at 85mph, luckily the caliper held the wheel and rotor on UNTIL we got stopped. All we could figure was the welded appearance of the outer wheel bearing had something to do with it...made me a believer in regular bearing packing

I actually almost did this the other day. I was backing out of the driveway and heard a clicking. Then I realized that I forgot to tighten the driver side rear rim.

Not to run it into the ground, but warping rotors is not the only problem you will run into. One issue that not many people think about is the stretching of the threads on the studs. Granted, it will happen over time using a torque wrench but is sped up considerably by using your impact gun. I'll zip them on with the impact on low speed and then torque them.

Before a wheel falls off you hear the way its wobbling. You can also feel it in your steering wheel. I guess if it just popped completely off you wouldnt have felt anything comin anyway. Sorry to hear man, good luck replacing the parts.
Be sure to check all your suspension on that corner.

maybe with one of those torque extensions that they use, but straight off the impact HELL NO.

Not for aluminum wheels at least, maybe steel wheels...
