Regular fuel doesnt burn as well as premium. Regular fuel can cause detonation which can ruin your pistons, rings, etc. Thats just a basic way of saying it. There is a TON of other info, but that should get you started.

MAKE SURE TO USE PREMIUM.

well the manual for our cars doesnt specify if im not mistaken, but as earlier stated, if you can afford premium whatever it may be in your area,, 91, 93, 101, use it, otherwise use the best you can afford, if your car is stock then it shouldnt hurt to run reg, but when you start building it higher octane is better, to prevent pinging and knock

I've always ran premium in my all cars. It's just much better for any high-compression or forced induction engine. It prevents detonation, keeps your fuel system running clean, and you get better gas mileage to boot. The money you save on one tank of gas by buying the cheap stuff is about $3 or $4, right? That's about $200 a year or so, right? You can get that back easily by buying off-brand drinks and chips! At any rate, you can't buy a new set of rings and pistons for $200, so it's cheap insurance!

Uh, not entirely... 87 octane fuel burns more efficiently than higher octanes, but also burns at a higher temperature which can lead to detonation/ping. That's why its use isn't recommended on higher compression and forced induction engines. Less knock protection, higher EGT's

The only differences in octanes is that a 93 octane fuel is harder to ignite than a 87 octane fuel. Thats it. No other difference. Well besides the cost. Additives are the same unless the company you get it from adds stuff to it. 93 octane resists detonation because it wont ignite under pressure as easily vs. 87 octane. One doesnt burn more eviciently. One doesnt burn hotter or make more power on its own. Yes with higher octane you can turn boost up or play with timing to make more power but a switch from 1 octane to another wont make more power.

sweet guys this helps me win the argument between us. my dad is 60 years old and has built many motors and cars. he does know his stuff i learned alot from him and his friends about v8's but when it comes to turbos and superchargers he starts to scratch his head but its cool we allways laugh it off next time my family and i visit. and thanks moy for giving me the good info as well as everybody else thanks much.(only reason i mentioned moy is because he wanted to stay out of it, so i have to thank him for that personally.)
