Then you didnt look hard enough or you dont understand what/where/or how our chasis works..
our chassis works the same as any other modern unibody construction. generally everything aft of the rear shock towers acts as a crush or crumple zone during a rear end collision. this allows the crumple zone to absorb as much impact energy as possible to reduce the amount of energy that reaches the occupants. here is a good example of what im talking about:
its no supra, however it does rather graphically illistrate my point that this area is designed to crumple. its easy to see that the passenger compartment (the area between the shock towers) is built much stronger than the areas fore and aft. its this fact that allows the areas fore and aft to act as crumple zones. by reinforcing these areas, you create the potential that these crumple zones wont absorb as much energy in a crash than they normally would if left alone. any energy the crumple zone doesnt absorb, is tranfered to the occupants.
i dont mean to start an argument, as ive said before, its your car and you can do what you want. but i simply wanted to make the point to anyone else thinking of doing something similar that they may want to think long and hard about the safety implications of doing so. from your criptic responces, i can surmise that youve already thought this through and decided that it was safe. and thats fine, i could care less what you do with your car.
also, i dont really even see the point of bracing anything beyond the subframe mounts, but i guess thats a topic for a different discussion. dispite all ive said, i will agree that it does look really cool.
